Guan Yin Oracle No. 87

Yaojin Explores the Earth Cave

Middle lot

A person walks halfway up the ridge as the sun touches the mountain.

Steep cliffs and rocks are not yet safe.

Looking up, one asks Heaven for protection.

This body is still between peace and unease.

Original text

Original Chinese verse

此身犹在太平间

仰望上天为护佑

竣岭崖岩未可安

人行半岭日衔山

Allusion

At a celebration of battle merit, Cheng Yaojin saw a deep cave open in the ground. By drawing lots he was chosen to descend with a rope tied around him. Inside he found stone doors, furniture, a robe, and a jade belt. Wearing them out, he became a rough king for three years.

Translated verse

This lot shows finding gold by washing sand while the person is in danger. It is a sign of noble help.

Explanation

Chisel stone to see jade; wash sand to see gold. Effort is needed, but it costs worry.

Reading the sign

You have walked half the ridge and meet the sunset. The matter is hard and the timing is not good.

The cliff cannot be climbed, so you can only ask Heaven for protection. There is peace, but the situation still feels unsteady.
